This November 20 we commemorate 109 years since the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. Visit San Miguel de Allende and be part of this Patriotic Celebration in honor of freedom.
The consolidation of the Mexican Republic has been a long and violent process that has transformed the territory and society for centuries. The period of the Revolution was one of radical political changes, which pursued the abolishing of the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz, recovering the lands taken from the peasants and establishing a democratic government. That has always been the struggle and the deepest longing of Mexicans.
The figures of the “Caudillo”, the “Charro” and the “Soldadera” emerged as iconic characters from an era of heroism and fraternity, and names such as Francisco I Madero, Villa, Zapata and Carranza become an essential part of the history of Mexico.
In San Miguel de Allende, as in many cities of the republic, this date is commemorated with a civic parade in which all young people in primary and secondary education participate, making sports skills and gymnastics demonstrations. The drums and trumpets of the student warbands echo through the main streets, in an emotional walk that accompanies revolutionaries and “Adelitas”.
This November 20th visit San Miguel de Allende and stay at Casa 1810 Boutique Hotel to enjoy the parade of the Revolution, and join this celebration that promises, as always, to be full of humor, music and delicious typical food.
